The year 2020 begins with the two light-hearted comedy Shimla Mirchi and Sab Kushal Mangal.
Both movies are based on the story of a love triangle. But it seems like both the movies remain unsuccessful to impress the viewers. The reason behind is the lack of humor in the films.
Movie Review of Shimla Mirchi
Shimla Mirchi is a movie about a youngster Avinash (Raj Kumar Rao), who falls in love with a young lady Naina (Rakul Preet Singh) in Shimla.
Naina is interested in opening Cafe in Shimla and there she receives help from her lover Avinash and then they both come closer.
They both decide to meet the mother of Naina who is divorced and the character played by none other than the Dream Girl Hema Malini.
Naina brings her boyfriend to her mother but her mother got attracted to Avinash and try her best to impress him.
In the movie, we will witness Hema mam romancing with Raj Kumar Rao.
So its the story about a young guy who find himself in trouble between his girlfriend and girlfriend’s mom.
If we talk about the direction of the movie, Ramesh Sippy directed a movie after thirty years. So it should be an all-new start for him.
The direction of the movie is not up to the mark as it lacks the attention of the audiences. Ramesh Sippy failed to lock his audiences with the movie for three hours.
The movie was to be scheduled to release in 2015. But because of the lack of buyers, it didn’t land at the theaters.
While watching the movie you all will realize that Rakul Preet Singh and Raj Kumar Rao looked younger than now. The delay in the release of the movie will also affect its earning.
The performance of Raj Kumar and Rakul are on an average in the movie. Raj Kumar Rao at the present is one of the finest actors of Bollywood.
But it seems like, in 2014 when this movie being filmed, Raj Kumar Rao was fresher and struggler. In 2015, he appeared in the movie Queen, where he was unrecognized.
So the conclusion of the story is the concept of the movie is unique in Bollywood. Despite that, the movie is a waste of time and money.
Shimla Mirchi Rating: 1.5 Stars
Movie Review of Sab Kushal Mangal
The meaning of the title of the movie is All Is Well. But while watching the movie it doesn’t seem like anything is well.
The movie completely lacks in humor. The story is about a town Karnalganj where a Goon and a politician Baba Bhandari (played by Akshay Khanna) does a side business of doing forcefull marriages.
He abducts the youngsters and conducts their marriages forcefully. These type of story plots has been used already in Bollywood movies. Example Jabariya Jodi.
Baba Bhandari when finds out that a young journalist Pappu Mishra (Played by Priyank Sharma, son of Padmini Kolhapure) is exposing him in front of the world for conducting forceful marriages, kidnaped him and try to fix his marriage with a young girl Mandira(Played by Riva Kishan, Daughter of Ravi Kishan).
But Baba Bhandari ends up falling in love with Mandira. So what will be the consequences of this trio romantic angle is all about the movie.
Akshay did a fine job as he is best in acting, but the newcomers Priyank and Riva lacked in their love chemistry.
Even we didn’t find any hero quality in Priyank Sharma. The direction, Screenplay, and Music are average.
The performance of Supriya Pathak and Satish Kaushik is like overacting in the movie.
Despite having a social script this movie wasn’t able to deliver any kind of message to the audiences.
These two movies are not up to the mark and rather than watching these movies we suggest you sit at home and enjoy with your family.
